Of more pressing value is the fact that Republicans are all over the map. If McCain wins in NH and Huckabee takes South Carolina and Romney takes Michigan and Giuliani takes Florida we're all going to St. Paul, Minnesota for a brokered convention.

Heck, Duncan Hunter has one delegate already thanks to Wyoming.
 
And Ron Paul is getting 10% of the vote and will get plenty of votes in the South.

Brokered Convention? I bet the farm on it.

Gotta admit I'm kinda in Hucka-Bama fatigue mode. That was a heckuva trip up to Iowa and I learned a few things you should know going onward:

The Iowans--as much as a derided them a while back--are not just a bunch of monkeys as the national press portrays them to be. I ATTENDED Caucus meetings and it was much like the PTO. These were a lot of regular folk who VOTE. Some of them didn't vote in 2004. I'll let you chew on that.


The Huckabee voters were NOT--as the national press would have you believe--just a bunch of EEEEvangelicals shipped out of churches like zombies in the night. These were real people who--while probably identifying with some faith--did not vote Jesus first. I met a lot of them. They simply LIKED Huck and the stuff they disagreed with him on they figured he was blowing smoke and the stuff they agreed with him on they tended to see as genuine. They just liked the man. Doesn't matter whether YOU believe me. But Giuliani, Romney, McCain and Fred need to believe me.


The Obama voters? Same as Huck voters only Democrats. I said here back in August that Obama had the "swing." And you ain't got that "thing" if you ain't got that "swing".  That's it. Having some well loved greasy zipper by your side like Bill will thrill establishment Democrats but regular Americans--even liberals--are often smarter than the establishment gives them credit for. I don't think Obama can be stopped at this point. The Clintons just look old.  

Finally, you all should know that in Iowa at least, Democratic voters were motivated BIG. Dem caucuses dwarfed Repub ones. Dem campaign parties dwarfed Repub ones.



Iowa? Reagan lost. Bush 1 lost. Dukakis lost. Bill lost.
But I think 2008 Iowa will mean different things. People were not asleep. We'll see.

I just saw a friggin' tow truck running lights and sirens. WTF? Baby was sleeping and we were having some egg nog so I didn't make a big deal about it.


On a lighter note, I saw Man World at the Mall for the first time. At each end there are seats and couches...men reading, sleeping, staring. Hey, there are bars at airports, why not a bar at a mall?

I know why the Libs aren't all over this. They know an End Times obsessed Jesus Freak like Huck will get obliterated in a general election so they will let him talk all he wants.

The Righties are a different and more confusing story. So many Conservatives are just too cowardly to condemn such words because I think they want that message to be delivered because it wins them votes. Kinda like how the Libs tell everyone they are worthless without government, the Righties like to tell people they'll all die without a "Christian" anti-Muslim Republican in office.

And, by the way, it's ok for YOU to think all Muslims  are evil. But I don't want my President thinking that OR saying that.

Why? Not because I am afraid of Muslims. Not because I am politically correct. It's because it is wrong.

There are seven million Muslims in this country who are American citizens and to my knowledge NONE of them have been charged with any act of terror.

Do I want my President telling seven million American citizens that their religion is "radical" and that we are at war with their "theology"? Is your only comeback that they aren't ALL in the streets decrying terror? Some of them have been.

For the Radical Muslims it is indeed true this is a theological war. That's not the case with us. We are not fighting Muslims. We are fighting Muslim extremists who have bastardized a religion.

Sure, radio hosts and politicians can get a ton of support by just simply attacking a religion. Any ape can generate support for hate. Just look at the Jihadists.

The Huckabee campaign position puts a target on our backs because it basically tells the Jihadists we are "in" for their game. A Holy War is just want they want. Not to mention it tells 7 million Americans that they are our enemies.

Huckabee is more dangerous than I ever imagined, and I'll be damned if I am going to allow my kids to be sentenced to fighting a "theological war" for the rest of their lives.

At this point I'm ready for it I think... that's the one great thing about Huck is that he understands working class concerns...Perot did too...dare I say it's a Conservative tradition to be for the people and suspicious of corporate power. How many times have you heard a Republican favor corporate bail outs but won't even consider some social programs. If Huck can work that he'll be a giant.
I'll never forget being at a gas station and listening to a 26 year old say how she dressed a nasty finger cut herself because she couldn't afford the co pay...I mentioned that to Gingrich and he accused her of buying Ho Hos and Cigs instead of helping herself. Sorry Newt, she was buying gas. That's what turns me off about Republicans who really aren't conservatives...Teddy R would never have subscribed to that cynical view of citizens...."
