A Bull Moose Thanks...And No Thanks.
Natalie
(pictures coming)
First of all this Thanksgiving gives us a special gift in the form of Natalie Kathleen--all (now) 4lbs/12oz of her--who has now been freed of her feeding tube and oxygen tubes and is wide eyed and feisty enough to fight me over the changing of her diaper. Four days after her illustrious early arrival she is now as hungry as an ox and ready--but not yet able--to get out of her "box" except for feedings and short snuggle times.
The sight of her staring into her mother's eyes tonite in recognition of the voice she heard for oh so many months in the womb was a thanks-giving moment to remember forever.
Yet, for every moment of difficulty for her and for us there are many more of God's blessings struggling more mightily than our dear daughter.
There are many more parents who have a harder time sleeping than we had.
For every breath and blink from our sweet Natalie we say a prayer for those children who are not yet so improved and for those parents who are not yet so relieved.
Embryos

I had to REALLY DIG to find it (no Post, not even popular conservative sites promote the story) but kudos to the oft maligned New York Times for breaking good scientific news regarding critical Stem Cell tissue created without the use of embryos.
This SHOULD be good news to all. But will it really be good news to all of those in Missouri and around the country who have financial investments in the future use of embryos for Stem Cell research? You really think all of those who invested monetarily in the passage of Amendment 2 in Missouri are going to suddenly give up on promoting their industry in the face of solid alternatives? Not a chance. There is too much money invested, too much money to be made.
Soldiers
This can't be true. But it is. The military asking for bonuses back from soldiers who can no longer serve. The reason they can no longer serve? They lost limbs or were otherwise taken out by enemy fire in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Here's the story from Pittsburgh. Why this is not making major news is beyond me.

Jamie,
Great news on you and Andrea's baby Natalie.. Can't wait for the pics!
The news on the stem cell research? Almost immediately after the story broke.. other scientists are saying that we still should not give up on embrionic research.
This find looks as though it could very well put an end to the moral controversy. We'll see if those that are leaning on their dollar in embrionic stem cells and the extreme left wing whack jobs will accept a great find and how much life truly means.
On the soldier's and their bonuses..As I heard this story at earshot.. I originally I thought I was hearing a story of a patriot giving his money back by choice.
But as I "tuned in" I realized that it was the Government wanting money back ! I could not believe it. The military had better come up with a good explaination for this!
How stupid can the military be with this??? Unbelievable. I am going to wait patiently for what the hell they could possibly be thinking??
There will be more on this, I am sure. Let's hope anyway.

God bless,

May God bless your beautiful daughter with good health and great love!
I had read the story yesterday about the military requesting bonuses back and it made me sick to my stomach. A complete disgrace, IMO. I cannot for the life of me understand what they are thinking.
