Ding Dong The Bill Is Dead

Here's the roll as the Illegal Alien Amnesty Act went down in flames.

My friends over at www.Hotair.com have an interesting investigation of the shenanigans of one of our "conservative" standard bearers,  Sen. Brownback.
Check it out

Some analysts predict the defeat will help Democrats.

But aren't a lot of you tired of protecting Republicans just because they are Republicans?

Jamie, yes he(Brownback) is a weasle, but what do expect from him, his voting record is not of the conservative mindset. However, reading through the first votes, Bond was all in, was McCaskill sitting on the fence also? She still is a rookie and runs the party line most of the time! Overall, I am satisfied that it did not pass, now what about the fence and castration of the employers that hire illegals? I do believe Bush will relax his henchmen now since the bill is dead and nothing will get done

All of us "loud" people should be proud tonight. Us BMAer's and all those like us truly made a difference and what it proves to me is this; we must do more, every issue, every time. Some of us have probably been involved already. I must admit, I was not as involved as I could have been. Sure, I have always been very opinionated and passionate about issues that I believe in, never failing to proselytise my friends and associates (basically anyone who would listen or debate), but I had never contacted my congressional representative. Until now. I sent emails and made phone calls. And, I feel politically empowered like never before. So what's next? May I humbly suggest we go after this "un" fairness doctrine B.S.

Ann Coulter had the right idea tonight on Billy O. Pass a law that Illegal’s can sue company’s that hire Illegal’s. They pay is crappy, no bennies, long hour’s, and they can’t pipe up and can’t sue. Pass that bill and we will know where every Illegal Alian is and what company’s are hiering them. They will take the money, Which will be, payed by the Company hireing them, and send them away.

Jamie, Sue and Settle, only the settle will be on Mexico’s soil not ours.

Rugrat, not a good idea at all man. I own my own business, and if I were to get sued, I would have to raise my prices to cover that loss. So who would really lose there. The people again! And then the money the IBC's (illegal border crossers) recieve would help Mexico's economy, not ours! I would rather them raid the companies, but, position agents on the outside in strategic locations and then go inside and announce the raid, every one that comes running out should be squashed like the roach they are.

Keep it up, they still have more tricks up their sleeves. Now they are running scared because the can't control all the media. And the word is out that they are on the take. Run and cover is what they will be doing, but let's show them who is really in charge next election, kick them all out! L/R doesn't matter. Then work on the size of the government and make it work for the people instead of us working for it!

    Just smoke and mirrors!
Here’s how I see this whole immigration bill. Neither the President, Republicans, or Democrats really wanted to secure the boarders to stop cheap labor from coming in. So what happens?
This cockamamie bill comes-a-long that everyone knows is a bad bill, and would never pass. To some it looks like SOMEBODY is at least trying SOMETHING and to others it looks like they’ve stopped a bad idea.
Both sides loose and both sides win, and nothing gets done, but hey, at least we tried, or…at least we stopped a bad idea from becoming a reality, depending on your point of view.
But the bottom line is……nothing was done, which is what the President and congress wanted all along.
Or am I missing the point here?

Scott, the only point I think you missed is that the Dems wanted this bill for the simple fact that it would have created a larger Dem voting base down the road. You're right about them not wanting to secure the borders thats evident by the simple fact that they - the ubiquitous omni present they- have had the where with all to enforce border security for more than 20 years. THAT bill would have passed were it not for the uprising of the average American Joe six pack and sites such as this one created by our own Jamie and the help of folks a lot smarter than I that contribute to this site. I hate to repeat my self but I am going to. Were it not for "us" that piece of alimentary canal detritus would have passed.

I see your point Wayne, but still I can't help but think this was all smoke and mirrors, just so someone can say, "hey, we tried but you wouldn't let us"!
But I guess your right, it might have passed if we didn't make our voices heard

    Scott,
I am not being a Monday morning QB here but, I was in a state of disbelief through this whole immigration bill thing..and doubt and I had the same thoughts as you.. the President's poll numbers are at the lowest ever, Congress' numbers are even lower than his.. I beleive that whatever the President was thinking ( still haven't heard the jist of his philosophy on this) and Congress being driven by the far left and they feel their leather chairs getting hotter because of the war and all that comes along with it..... I think they tried a so called "bi-partisan" effort to accomplsh SOMETHING..just to accomplish SOMETHING.. to regain the country's faith.... they all knew it wouldn't happen or they thought it would slip by us... They took advantage of the fear and uncertainty of open borders at a time of war and terrorism, they all wanted to be heroes and came out as zeros and oddly enough, they all have a place to hide in explanations for their actions on this bill.... the golden parachute ya know?? "Hey we tried" kinda thing... This is what pisses me off.... How in the world at this point in our country's troubles we don't have a strict mindset and put our law enforcement on alert on illegals and border security is beyond me... I mean if my house was broken into and I had no protection, no alarm system, etc,, and have kids and belongings...I think I would be taking some quick action to make sure that it doesn't freakin' happen again...right??? There is wiff of phonyness about this, it was the government putting there toe in the water to see if they could accomplish just SOMETHING and they found out real quick the temperature and its up to us to turn up the heat... I am not trying to sound over-dramatic here... but yes the illegal issue is a huge problem.... I am worried about paying the way for Jose.... but I am more concerned paving the way for Mohommed "Jose" Akbar sliding through these borders... I can't, I just can't understand the lack of urgency and the lazy complaceny with this country right now! We should have made a hammer-like statement after 9/11, "Shock and Awe" was Awww Shucks.. we should have sealed up the borders under strict and stringent rules and let this freakin' world know not to mess with us....instead the panzy ass PC and mental laziness has taken over..even after we were attacked on 9/11.... remember what Pearl Harbor launched??? My gosh friends I am not saying we should run roughshot over the world, but if there was ever a time to make a statement it was then, now the window is closing...unfortunately its gonna have to open again.... We need that fighting spirit back.... we are so spoiled with comforts and busy schedules and all that, that we would even put the horrible devastating attack in September on a shelf and minimize it in just a few short years. Open borders. comfort...PC....not a good mix at all my friends... Sorry for being so long winded, I'm pissed but still yet optimistic,,,, we gotta wake up! Thx LTL

LT, I don't think it was all that complicated. Congress does biz as usual 'cause joe six pack is putting shoes on his kids and food on the table. The prez gets hyped up on a bill of goods he thinks will cure EVERYTHING cause he is being bipartisan. Teddys happy, George is happy, congress is happy but look out below. Along comes a dude with a spark. He applies it to the fuse and the explosion of outrage of like minded thinkers is heard in the halls of congress like never before in the history of this country. Day before yesterday they- our hirelings in DC- did'nt care what you or I thought but they are going to care from now on if we don't lose our fervor. STAY MAD folks. Jamie and LT and all the other people that contribute to this site be they left right man woman or child will keep this the place to be. carry on

    Mac,
Maybe youre right... and man I hope it is just that simple my friend... but I am so tired of the rhetoric and ass covering in government,,, it gets damned aggravating when you want action and are frustrated and concerned ya know?? And we have lolly-gaggers in government prolonging the frustration.... just seems in our history we just got things done... and made things happen... now we sometimes just only happen to get things done... Thx LTL

Here’s a thought, if We The People, can make our public servants hear us about the immigration bill, why can’t we make them hear us about: (1) term limits (2) line item veto (3) flat rate tax? I strongly believe that if We The People can have these three things, it would do wonders for setting the country back on course. Another grass roots movement anyone?

LT. I hope I didn't over simplify it 'cause the main point I am trying to express is that congress was just sailing merrily along with business as usual when out of the blue they got run over by a moose. See thats never happened before and when they got up off the floor they dusted off their brooks brothers and asked them selves "WHAT WAS THAT"? now it's up to us to make sure that the MOOSE keeps rambling . Every time DC rolls over to get out of bed I want the first thing they see in the a.m. is my ugly moose face right in theirs. Makes a lovely picture does it not?

Frankly, I think almost all politicians are wrong on immigration. We should focus on eliminating the bad incentives encouraging illegal immigration rather than kicking people out and building walls. Please see an article I have written about it here:
